Mini Implants

Make an Impact

Dr. Gant of Indiana Mini Dental Implants Inc. can replace your missing teeth with innovative and comfortable mini dental implants. Dental implants more successfully resemble real teeth than any other tooth replacement option. Mini dental implants provide the same features and benefits of standard dental implants with only a few differences. Read below for more information about how Dr. Gant can help you love your smile again with mini dental implants.

What are mini dental implants?

A dental implant is a replacement for the entire tooth structure—from the root that is located beneath the gumline to the tooth that is seen in your mouth. The replacement is made of titanium so the root portion will actually fuse, or grow attached to your bone, which provides strength and durability for the implant. Mini dental implants provide this same structural strength, but on a slightly smaller scale. The primary difference between a mini implant and a standard implant is the size and the components of the structure. A mini implant is 1.8 to 3.3 mm in diameter compared to 3.4 to 5.8 mm for a standard implant. Also, a mini implant has one less piece than its standard counterpart. It has a single titanium post and a mechanism at the end of the post for the placement of the dental crown, or fake tooth to adhere.

What are the advantages of mini dental implants?

Dr. Gant provides mini dental implants for a multitude of beneficial reasons for patients who need tooth replacement. Primarily, mini implants are comfortable, similar in structural strength to a natural tooth, and offer tooth replacement for patients who have less bone structure than needed to hold a standard-size implant. Because a mini implant is smaller than a standard implant, less natural bone mass is required for the placement of the implant. Also, mini implants may be able to be placed in one appointment, with a local anesthetic, and often without sutures. In comparison, standard dental implants require several appointments and more time to complete the procedure.

How do I take care of my mini dental implants?

Taking care of your mini dental implants is not unlike caring for your natural teeth. Be sure to brush your teeth and mini implants each day and floss each night. Also, continue to visit Dr. Gant and his team consistently to ensure your implants are examined to monitor the health of your mouth and the function of the implants.
